UMBRELLA SPACE SCIENCE LTD

USSL is a UK-based space technology company specialising in advanced instrumentation for radiation detection, space environment monitoring, and mission-critical data products. Built on strong heritage from scientific space missions and ESA programme experience, USSL combines detector physics, payload engineering, embedded systems, and mission operations expertise to deliver robust solutions for the commercial space sector. The company’s focus is to make high-quality space radiation measurements more accessible, affordable, and scalable, supporting satellite operators, manufacturers, insurers, and agencies with reliable environmental intelligence for safer and more resilient missions. USSL’s flagship product, the Universal Radiation Monitor, is a compact, configurable instrument designed to measure the radiation environment directly in orbit. Optimised for LEO satellites and constellations, it provides real-time data on radiation conditions that can inform spacecraft design, shielding strategies, material selection, anomaly investigation, and operational decision-making. By integrating URM across multiple spacecraft, operators can also contribute to a distributed space weather monitoring network, improving situational awareness and enabling faster response to radiation events that may affect satellite performance, reliability, and mission lifetime.
